The Shamrock Drive-In south of Killarney is planning to rebuild it's movie screen.

The theatre had it's screen torn down a few weeks ago after a storm with high wind gusts hit southwest Manitoba.

Owner, Joanne Struss states her husband Darren is starting to put reconstruction plans together.

"They have been working on a plan. Just something that is going to help the wind be diverted a bit and I don't know what is all going to be involved with that. Darren is hoping that towards summer's end he will be pouring some footings for what we imagine will go up at this point in time and see what comes next spring."

Struss noted they plan to clean up the pieces from the damaged screen shortly; adding they are still waiting for insurance to come in.

Meanwhile, She hasn't put any fundraising plans together yet; however, a few people have contacted Struss to help raise money for the rebuild.

"I got a phone call from Ryan Smith who is the forerunner for the Dubs at the Lake V.W. event that happens here on the weekend of August 19th to 21st. They had a few of them get together and in lieu of a drive-in movie they've decided to do a big car show of all makes and models. And come out and do that as a fundraiser for the Drive-in."

Struss added the drive-in attracts people from all over the province and is an important part of Killarney's tourism.
