Canada Day celebrations are set to take place in several Westman communities on both June 30th and July 1st.

Towns such as Melita, Deloraine, Boissevain and Killarney have lots for Canada Day party goers to see and do.

In Killarney July 1 starts with a pancake and sausage breakfast at the Legion from 8:00am to 1:00pm. Both Killarney museums will be open from 10 am to 3pm: the J.A.V. David Museum (located at 410 William Ave) as well as the Turtle Mountain Flywheel Museum at the corner of Highways 3 and 18.

There will be live entertainment at the Ag Grounds at 9:30 pm with more community events, taking you to the fireworks lighting up the sky at 11pm.

In Boissevain Saturday June 30 is Celebrate History Day and Canada Celebration go the following day. On Saturday the Moncur Gallery and The Wildlife Museum will be open between 11am and 3pm. There will be a fund raising BBQ for the Westman Animal Rescue.

The Beckoning Hills Museum will hold an open house on Saturday between 2 and 4pm.

Canada Day in Boissevain starts with a Community Church Service at 10:30 at the fairgrounds and that is followed by the car show along South Railway between 12 noon and 4pm. The Parade starts at 4:00pm. Celebrations move to the fairgrounds for the evening show. That program includes a roast beef supper, entertainment, a children’s carnival and the fireworks.

At Lake Metigoshe fireworks will take place at the lake at 10pm on Saturday night. On Canada Day also at Lake Metigoshe there is a Family Fun Day and BBQ. There will be a parade of boats Sunday evening between 4:00 and 5:00pm.

In Melita Canada Day starts with a pancake breakfast at the Legion Hall at 9am. A multi-denominational Church service will be held in the Legion Hall at 11am. A community lunch goes at 12 noon and there’s also public swimming and a movie during the afternoon.

There’s a community parade at 6:00pm and the evening program at River Park starts at 6:30pm. That program includes a hot dog bonfire, kid’s activities, cake, fireworks and entertainment.
