The Manitoba Coordinator with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank has been touring southern Manitoba.
Harold Penner recently stopped in southwestern Manitoba to help kick-off a growing project.
He says the anticipate about 6,000 acres will planted for the bank this year.
Penner adds there is a real need for money raised from the crops.
He said last year the Canadian Foodgrains Bank did work in 40 countries.
