This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival.

The opening night recital takes place Thursday at the Lorne Watson Recital Hall at Brandon University featuring classical piano works by Daniel Tselyakov.

Paul Shore is one of the hosts of the event.

He says the festival is a great way to enjoy classical music in a less formal setting.

“A lot of time classical music gets associated with getting dressed up and going downtown to the concert hall, and all of those rituals – which is perfectly fine,” said Shore. “But the thing about the Clear Lake environment - it's less formal - you have more interaction with the musicians who are actually going to stand up and talk a little bit about the works they're playing. You're in this gorgeous physical setting, people get to know each other a little bit on breaks.”

Highlights of the festival include a coffee concert on Saturday morning in addition to the Clear Lake Jazz Cruise Saturday afternoon.

The grand finale takes place Monday afternoon at the Erickson Lutheran Church.
