Family members of the victims in yesterday's fire at Delta Beach are collecting donations to help them get back on their feet.

 

Four-year-old boy Landon Cyr lost his life in the blaze, while the rest of the family was able to escape safely. The house was completely razed. Landon's great uncle Marty Everett organized the drive, and says the parents Merle Cyr and Melissa Moore lost everything. He's just trying to help them get through.

 

"They're with family, doing as well as could be expected, which isn't very good at the moment," Everett says. I have no words, I can't even get my brain around what they must be going through... but they're safe."

Everett says they're looking for accomodations for the family, and are collecting items like toiletries, diapers, baby wipes and clothing. A GoFundMe page has also been launched. Everett adds he's been overwhelmed with the outpouring of support from the community.

 

"I just would like to extend my thanks and god bless to the community and all the people, their kindness is overwhelming," he says.
