Buckles will be awarded this weekend at the Manitoba Threshermen's Farrier Contest taking place in Austin.

The competition will feature craftsman who makes handmade horseshoes from scratch.

Stuart Lambert is one of the organizers of the event.

He says the competition is attracting participants from far and wide.

“We have one guy coming from BC...and then we have two guys coming from Alberta. One guy is doing an internship, he's over from France, and so he's going to be competing in the intermediate division. We have a guy coming in from Ontario as well as one Saskatchewan. They're coming from across the provinces.”

Lambert notes there will be about a dozen participants competing in this year's event.

The competition will take place Saturday in conjunction with the Manitoba Threshermen's Reunion and Stampede.
