The shelves at the Boissevain Food Pantry are filled.
Every year students at Boissevain School hold a food drive during Halloween and this year another food drive took place in the spring.
“It couldn't have come at a better time” said Food Pantry Chair Donna Fraser. She added their shelves were getting pretty bare and more items were needed to meet demand.
“In 2016 we provided food hampers to more than 500 people. Every two weeks we hand out food to anywhere from eight to 10 families.”
Fraser says demand is fairly steady but it drops off a little during the summer months.
The most recent food drive brought in 20 boxes of food with 1,400 non perishable food items. The Boissevain Food Pantry opens every second Friday between 2:00 and 4:00pm.
