Mark Morehouse, sergeant with RCMP"I think the numbers are great. They're increasing, and we've got more people that are interested that will be coming. I think it's going to be a good start for Gladstone to have all the people who will go out and help look after the community. And it's going to help us out tremendously. So, it's going to be good for everybody involved here in Gladstone, and with the RCMP itself, too."

Doug is a member and notes he's pleased with the number of people who showed up.

"We had a great turnout tonight. I'm very pleased with the number that came out. I believe we had 13 for sign-up which will be hitting the streets as soon as we can get timeframes all set up."

He adds their next step is to organize its members' shifts for patrols.

"It's the official start. We just need to see who can do what type of shifts. And then we're able to set it all up to go -- maybe another week yet. But I just hope we can make Gladstone safer, and nobody regrets us (smiles)."
