It’s called the ‘Jewel of the Turtle Mountains’, and its hosting the “Big Rock” Golf Tournament this weekend. That being the Deloraine Golf and Country Club nestled on the northern side of the Turtle Mountains, at the northern end of the Turtle Head Dam. Clubhouse Manager, Vicki Moore says the Deloraine Golf Club has been hosting the tournament for 27 years, since 1989.

The “Big Rock” allows the first 80 pre-registered golfers to participate, and Moore says there is a waiting list of wanting participants, so much so, the club increased the number of participants to 80 golfers.

Vicki Moore, says the Saturday event, called the “horse race” is a competition for the top 10 golfers and is always a lot of fun to watch as the contestant numbers dwindle down with each hole.

Moore goes on to explain the unique features of the Deloraine Golf Course, including the dynamic view of the valley and the waterfall on hole number 1.

Everyone is welcome to come and watch the “horse race” golfing competition on Saturday afternoon from 3-4pm.

The men’s “Big Rock” Golf Tournament is held annually in July, and the ladies’ “Little Rock” Tournament will be held in August.
