Southern Manitobans need to be prepared for an extended period of extreme heat.

Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement because daytime highs this week are expected to reach and or surpass the 30 degree mark every day. An upper level ridge over the Prairies will spread very warn temperatures and the overnight lows will remain in the upper teens. The hottest temperatures are forecast for Friday and Saturday possibly hitting the mid 30's.

Heat warnings could be issued as the weekend draws closer.
