Work is expected to start in the spring of 2016 on upgrading the playground at Killarney School.

The Parent Advisory Council at Killarney School is behind the project.

Chairperson Corinne MacDonald says the entire multi-phase project could cost anywhere from $250,000 to $350,000.

“We've already raised more than $85,000 for phase one. Phase one will cost roughly $125,000 and work should start this spring.”

MacDonald says the playground equipment is 30 years old much of it needs to be replaced. “We plan to take out a lot of the structures but we will integrate some of the new equipment with the existing playground structures.”

The advisory council hopes the new equipment will last for at least another 30 years.
