The Minto and Area Philanthropic Committee is looking for ways to spend about $55,000.
A former resident left money with the Vancouver Foundation and interest from the money will see about $55,000 flowing to the Minto community every year. Dana Maxwell is chair of the Philanthropic Committee and she says so far they haven’t any shortage of ideas on how top spend the money.
“We’ve been told we will have about $55,000 to spend every year. In 2018 we approved a sports court at the school, new chairs for the hall and a sound system at the rink.”
Maxwell anticipates that over the next two or three months a number of ideas will be submitted for the committee to consider.
The group plans to fund regular activities like the school’s swimming lessons in Brandon on an annual basis.
