Boissevain has seen some major changes to their Main Street over the past few months, the most recent being the demolishing of the second Patterson Grain elevator at the end of June.

Mayor Judy Swanson says the green space is nice to have but it’s important for those two areas to have purpose.  Council is in contact with CP Rail to learn what their intent is; to sell or lease or just leave it as a green space.

Swanson says it’s important to continue the beautification of the town, including the areas beside the railway tracks.

Tending to the areas will fall on the municipality once again.  “We do a lot of that work,” explains Swanson, “we mow down along the railway track just to keep our community looking nice but if it’s going to be long-term then we will have to look at billing the railway for that purpose.”

“But, for now we won’t let it get out of sight.”
