Widespread smoke is expected to blanket most of Southern Manitoba on Monday.

Environment Canada says a large area of smoke coming from forest fires in Northern Saskatchewan and Northwest Territories has settled over Manitoba.

The smoke is mainly aloft and creating hazy conditions across all of the province. Hoever, local reductions in visibility and air quality readings continue in areas closest to the Saskatchewan border.

Conditions are expected to improve Monday evening and into Tuesday as winds shift.
