Residents of Southwestern Manitoba are waiting for the onslaught of mosquitoes.

So far the pesky insects haven't caused too much trouble. Killarney-Turtle Mountain Mayor Rick Pauls figures it's just a matter of time.

"I know everybody wanted to enjoy May long weekend but if it means that we are not slapping that many mosquitoes for the rest of the year, I'll take one bad weeked," stated Pauls.  "I am hoping that it knocks it back.  Cooler weather typically speaking does stop the process, but if we get a lot of moisture that could change very rapidly."

Pauls hopes the cold snap at the end of may night help keep the mosquitoes away but doubts that will be the case.
