After the first significant snowfalls Manitoba Public Insurance has some reminders for our safety. Here's spokesperson Brian Smiley.

"It's just a reminder to motorists to watch their speed and drive to conditions," says Smiley. "We know that on a very bad winter day in Manitoba, our Corporation will open more than 1,000 collision claims on a 24-hour period."

Smiley says an average winter day sees 500 collision claims by comparison. He adds the rule of thumb is to simply drive according to weather conditions when bad weather arrives, and drive slower regardless of what the speed limit signs say.
