Neepawa Mayor Adrian de Groot says he's excited to be working with the TransCanada Trail Organization for their 150th anniversary.

De Groot says he was asked to help out with the Organization and is excited for Neepawa to be a part of it.

"There's about 15,000 communities that are involved with it, so this is one more of those communities. From what I understand the trail is 24,000 Km's, so my involvement is -- when there's special things going on in this area -- that I become a representative, an ambassador for the Trans Canada Trail."

De Groot says it's like a big family, and they're looking forward to joining and getting Neepawa involved.

"One of the projects that we're thinking of doing is working on our trail system that we have within Neepawa. I figured it was a good fit, using it internally here, as well as others who use it across Canada can identify the trail by going through Neepawa. There's some real picture like locations that are very interesting and very beautiful."

He adds it's a real honour to be a part of this big family along the 24,000 km trail.
