The town of Neepawa's hoping to catch the eye of entrepreneurs with the release of a new video. Mayor Adrian de Groot notes they've released a video focusing the business and investment opportunities within Neepawa, in hopes of promoting future economic development. They budgeted for the initiative in their 2015 budget, and the video was released recently. De Groot says while there was some criticism, it likely came from those who didn't realize the video was solely targeted at entrepreneurs.

"The target audience was really for business development. It's to encourage investment, to encourage the businesses within the community, or outside Neepawa, or even outside the province and things like that, in order to say Neepawa's a great place to invest, a great place to grow a business, and a great community for employees to live in."

He says rather than creating a video to promote visitors or their facilities, they intended to focus only on what the town has to offer to anyone looking to start up a business.

"It wasn't a promotional video or a tourism video. It's strictly looking at business development in our community. It's available on our website and has sparked some interest already."

De Groot hopes the video leads to requests for more information on the town, ranging from demographic specific data to available land. He says some businesses in the area surrounding Neepawa use the town as a mailing address, but hopes to highlight how the community can provide much more.
