The west side of Killarney School could soon be home to a new track.
Tim De Ruyck is Superintendent for the Turtle Mountain School Division. He says a track doesn't come cheap but it is something that would benefit the region including students, the school and community.

Planning is underway to see if the project is fiscally something the division can tackle.

De Ruyck says the Foundation has pledged $150,000 if the project goes ahead by June of 2018.
De Ruyck says a low maintenance rubberized track costs about $100,000 per lane to build. The next step is to apply for grants and look for ways of funding the project.

The Superintendent pointed out no money would be taken from existing programs to pay for a new track.
