Fort McMurray during the height of the fire.

Some Fort McMurray fire victims will soon be receiving quilts from a group in southwestern Manitoba.

The Forget Me Knot Quilters gather twice a month to quilt. Member Judy Morningstar of Goodlands said when the fires hit Alberta they decided to make quilts for the families. She said they have more than 40 going to Alberta.

"These ones are going to be shipped to Lethbridge because the people who lost their homes are not in Fort McMurray because they don't have a place to stay," said Morningstar.  "Kids are finishing school where they are and the organizer told me the best place to send our 40 odd quilts is to Lethbridge."

She noted the people who are staying there while they get homes and sort out there lives can pick up these quilts.

Morningstar added making the quilts just seemed like the right thing to do.
