RCMP have formally laid nineteen charges against a Winnipeg man for his involvement in a fatal collision Thanksgiving weekend.

Charges against Manuel Britney Cowley, age 27, include Criminal negligence causing death, Criminal negligence causing bodily harm x3, Impaired driving causing death, Impaired driving causing bodily harm x3, Dangerous operation of motor vehicle causing death, Dangerous operation of motor vehicle causing bodily harm x3, Flight from police causing death, Flight from police causing bodily harm x3. In addition, he has been charged with Breach of Probation x2, including that he abstain from alcohol.

On October 9, 2015, shortly after 11:00 p.m., RCMP officers responded to reports of an impaired driver in Notre Dame. Police located the suspect vehicle at a gas station in St Claude. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the suspect fled at a high rate of speed. An RCMP patrol cruiser pursued the suspect vehicle but ended the chase due to the excessive speed of the fleeing vehicle.

The suspect vehicle was then involved in a head-on collision involving another vehicle, 2 miles East of St. Claude on Highway #2 in the R.M. of Gray.

Taylor Renwick, a 20 year old female from Napinka, and lone occupant of one of the vehicles involved, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
