The following is the RCMP report to September 20, 2016. This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service. - 12 traffic violations - 2 traffic accident - 10 provincial statute (Mental Health Act, Fire Prevention Act, Coroner's Act, 911 Act) - 5 common police activities (alarms, suspicious persons/vehicles, assistance to general public) - 12 crimes against property - 1 crimes against persons - 2 other criminal code - 2 impaired driving September 13, 2016 Police received a report of an on going issue with truck driver's using engine retarder brakes in Ninette. The town has signs posted prohibiting same. The vehicle description was taken and police contacted the trucking company who is following up with their driver. September 14, 2016 Police received an anonymous report of a male riding a lawn tractor down the road by the Coop Cardlock in Killarney and witnessed him drinking beer while driving it. Police patrolled and located the male on his tractor cutting grass. The male did not have any liquor with him and did not display any signs he had consumed any amount of liquor. The matter was concluded. September 15, 2016 Police received a report of an accident where someone had hit a black bull on Highway 18, south of Killarney. No injuries were sustained to the male driver, the bull however was not so lucky. Extensive damage was done to the F150 and a tow truck was called. Police were unable to locate the bull's owner!! Police received a report of a theft from a piece of land in the Municipality of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. Stolen was a half a lift of plywood and some damage was done to the winter wheat at the location as well. The matter is under investigation. Police received a report of mischief at the Kerry Park Campground in Killarney. The complainant stated that they heard several young boys outside of the camper and a loud bang. Upon investigation she noticed that her neighbor's gazebo door had been tampered with and the ceiling fan was broken. The matter is under investigation. September 16, 2016 As police were patrolling on Highway 23, a vehicle was noted going eastbound at an extremely high speed. The radar clocked the vehicle going 160 km/hr. The male driver was issued a speeding ticket for $835.75 and warned for the criminal code dangerous driving charge that he could've received!!!! A very thankful male apologized and took his ticket! Police received a report of an assault on Laurier Avenue in Killarney. Two males assaulted another male youth. Police attended and the male youth had a swollen eye and medical attention was not required. One male youth was charged with assault and released on a promise to appear and undertaking with conditions not to contact the victim. Police received a report of a number of fridges were entered, some broken into by cutting locks, and alcohol stolen at the Agricultural Ground Campground in Killarney. Police attended and met with the complainant. All fridges were outside of campers on the property. It appears 5 fridges were broken into and beer and other liquor was taken. No suspects or witnesses were identified and the theft occurred sometime within last 4 days. Police received report of an erratic driver on Highway 18 in Killarney. Police spoke with the complainant who advised that a grey Monte Carlo had been driving along the centre line and had been swerving upon entering Killarney. No plate was obtained. Vehicle was now out of sight. Police advised that they would make patrols for the vehicle and contact the complainant if vehicle is located, in order to obtain a statement. Patrols were made and no vehicles matching the description were located. September 17, 2016 A male was charged with impaired driving in Boissevain after being stopped and showing signs of impairment. The male was arrested and charged with impaired driving and released on a promise to appear in court at a later date. Police received a report of a break and enter to a resident in Killarney. Police responded and located a male subject who was arrested for break and enter, 3 counts of breach of recognizance. A warrant was also executed on the male for assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, possession of property obtained by crime, flight from police, 2 counts of assault, mischief and theft of vehicle. The male was remanded into custody and taken to Brandon Correction Centre. Killarney RCMP Detachment was dispatched to single vehicle rollover on Highway 23 in the RM of Prairie Lakes. One male was pronounced deceased at the scene and two males were taken to hospital. Alcohol and lack of seatbelt use are believed to be factors and the matter is under investigation. Police received a report of a break and enter to a residence in the Killarney-Turtle Mountain area. The matter is being investigated. A message was left on Killarney Detachment voicemail reporting a homeowner returned home Friday evening to find his side door open and numerous lights on in his residence in Killarney. No one was inside and nothing taken or moved. The complainant did find a backpack on the porch. Police attended and located the backpack owner and returned same to him. He advised that he left the backpack at the Blarney Stone and did not know how it got to the residence. September 18, 2016 Police assisted with a matter under the Family Relations Act in Waskada. Police received a report of a moose in distress after being hit by a truck on Highway 23 in the Boissevain-Morton area. Police attended and the moose was euthanized. September 19, 2016 Police received a report of a stolen utility trailer stolen in Medora. Police attended and the matter is being investigated. Police received information of a possible impaired driver in the Ninette area. Police received a complaint of 4 teens wearing hoodies, yelling at cars as they drove down Broadway street in Killarney. Several flower pots were tipped over, and the caller wanted police to make patrols. Patrols were made down Broadway and surrounding streets and no sign of the suspects. A message was left on the Killarney Detachment voicemail of a complaint of trespassing in the RM of Prairie Lakes. The matter is being investigated. A message was left on the Killarney Detachment voicemail of a complaint of someone knocking on the door of a residence in Killarney and running away. Police would like to remind the public to call our emergency line 204-523-7255 for incidents that are happening at the time. Please don`t feel like you are ``bothering`` the police with a complaint in progress. Police are not in any particular office every night and may be in another community. This emergency line puts you through to the RCMP dispatch only (not 911) so the officer can be dispatched to the incident immediately. The dispatcher can also give you an approximate time of arrival for officers depending where they are patrolling at the time. People are reminded they themselves can only request and pick up their own checks and are asked to bring two pieces of identification, one photo. Please also remember that Criminal Checks and Vulnerable Sector Searches for volunteers must provide a letter from the organization stating their volunteer status or there will be a $10.00 fee. Criminal Record Checks for employment are $10.00 each. Police would like to remind the public that if anyone requires fingerprinting services, they must make an appointment at the Killarney RCMP detachment. Drop-ins cannot be accommodated. We would like to advise that the business hours of operation at the Killarney Detachment are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday NEW HOURS FOR THE BOISSEVAIN OFFICE: The Boissevain RCMP business hours are Monday to Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. No office staff on Fridays.
