The following is the RCMP report to April 26, 2016. This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

April 19, 2016

Police were dispatched to a domestic dispute in Ninette. Police attended and after investigation, arrested both a male and female for domestic assault. Both parties were later charged with assault and released on undertakings to appear in court at a later date.

Police received a report of vandalism to a vehicle in Boissevain.

April 20, 2016

Police received an anonymous call to report a loud party in the 500 block of Rossmore Avenue in Killarney. Police attended and made patrols in the area. Nothing suspicious noted. No loud music heard nor people observed.

Police received a report of a male shooting a .22 rifle near Pelican Lake. It was determined that the individual had a valid permit for shooting pesky beavers and advised that he would notify residents in the area in advance of any further shootings. If I had a nickel for every time, beaver/nickel......get it?

April 21, 2016

A report was received of a burgundy dually truck speeding from the school down McKenzie Street in Boissevain on a regular basis. The caller was concerned for the safety of the children in the area and requested follow up.The vehicle was stopped and members identified the male driver. Verbal warning provided to the male.

April 22, 2016

Police received a report of a vehicle in the ditch with extensive damage, consistent with roll-over and no individuals on-scene. Police attended and located vehicle, and learned the female driver had been transported to Boissevain hospital. Police attended hospital and spoke with the sober driver who stated she had caught gravel shoulder and lost control. Minor injuries were sustained.

Police received a report of a white canoe that had been stolen when the canoe had been left on riverbank. The canoe was located at a residence in Killarney and transported back the owner. The matter is under investigation.

Police were called to the Boissevain Port of Entry reporting they had one male driver at the Boissevain Port of Entry. Police attended Boissevain Port of Entry and spoke the driver who was given a 72 hour road side suspension.

A report was received of a suspicious person walking down the street and looking in back yards. Police attended and were informed that the male was looking for his black cat. Members updated the complainant and no police or the fire department were required to get the cat out of a tree.

April 23, 2016

During a routine traffic stop on Highway 23 near Ninette, police arrested a charged a male driver with impaired driving. He was released to a sober adult and will appear in court in May.

Police received a report of theft of a crossbow with scope, quiver with 3 broad head arrows, and loading strings from a shed in Killarney that occurred sometime in the last week. The matter is under investigation. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact Killarney RCMP.

Police received a call from a resident in Killarney regarding a bag of pills that was found in a residence. Police seized the pills and learned they were over-the-counter Tylenol and Gravol.

Police received a report of a driver that came across a cow and some goats on Highway 23. The driver got out of the vehicle and managed to get them back into their pen. The pen was not very secure and requested that police contact the owner to try to fix the pen. Police contacted the owner who advised that the goats are quite the escape artists and will attempt to complete same. No round up or corralling needed by police for this call. Thanks to the driver for assisting.

April 25, 2016

Police received a report of a theft of batteries in Boissevain. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of a stolen bicycle in Killarney. If anyone finds a burgundy cruiser, please call Killarney detachment.

Police received a report of harassing phone calls in Baldur. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of a break and enter to a shed in Belmont. The incident happened approximately a month ago.

April 26, 2016

Police received a report of vandalism at the Boissevain School. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of what appeared to be a rifle on the dash of a vehicle parked in Boissevain. Police located the owner who advised it was a pellet gun. Police explained perception and safety concerns to the receptive owner.

Joke of the day:

Cst. Paydli stopped a motorist who was speeding down Main Street. "But officer", the man began, "I can explain".

"Just be quiet", said Cst. Paydli. "I'm going to let you cool your heels in jail until the Sergeant gets back".

"But, officer, I just wanted to say,"

"And I said to keep quiet! You're going to jail."

A few hours later, Cst. Paydli looking in on his prisoner and said, "Lucky for you, the Sergeant is at his daughter's wedding....He'll be in a good mood when he gets back."

"Don't count on it," answered the fellow in cells. "I'm the groom".

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know. If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Phone Busters Fraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do. Child Abuse Registry checks are NOT done through the RCMP. Please call 1-800-282-8069 for any information on the Child Abuse Registry. Criminal Record Checks and Vulnerable Sector Searches: Our goal is to complete these checks in a timely manner, however please plan ahead as they can take up to 3 weeks to complete. People are reminded they themselves can only request and pick up their own checks and are asked to bring two pieces of identification, one photo.

Please also remember that Criminal Checks and Vulnerable Sector Searches for volunteers must provide a letter from the organization stating their volunteer status or there will be a $10.00 fee.

Criminal Record Checks for employment are $10.00 each.

Police would like to remind the public that if anyone requires fingerprinting services, they must make an appointment at the Killarney RCMP detachment. Drop-ins cannot be accommodated.

We would like to advise that the business hours of operation at the Killarney Detachment are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday

NEW HOURS FOR THE BOISSEVAIN OFFICE: The Boissevain RCMP business hours are Monday to Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. No office staff on Fridays.

The Deloraine RCMP business hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday are 8:30 to 3:00 p.m.

The general public is encouraged to attend during those hours to ensure someone will be here. It is also recommended to call ahead, however, in the event of an emergency, call 911 or the emergency line.
