Police received a report of a fraud in Killarney.  A female had gone into a local bank to cash a Government of Canada cheque.  The female was able to produce identification that matched the name on the cheque.  The bank was aware of a new cheque fraud that was circulating and advised the female they needed to confirm the cheque with the government.  The female then became agitated and left the bank and did not return.  Banking institutions should be vigilant when cashing government cheque's as this scam was successful in some banks in Manitoba.

Poetry of the week:

Having spare keys in your pocket is something you take,
if you think it's not true ask Constable Jake
For locking your keys in the trunk is not what you do,
We thought with your experience, it was something you knew.
Buying our silence with a Rolling Pin cake,
Just won't cut it, but good try Jake.

Tip of the day:
Impaired driving laws in Manitoba have changed as of December 1, 2015.  If you blow a warning on the roadside screening device, the 24 hour suspensions for alcohol have now increased to 72 hour suspensions and if a youth (anyone under the age of 16) is in the vehicle, the suspension will be issued for 7 days.  Remember - It's just not worth the risk, have a designated driver!!!

The RCMP holiday checkstop program will again be running from December 1 to January 3, 2016.  RCMP in Killarney and across the country will be conducting checkstops for impaired driving and high risk behavior.  Use a designated driver, wear your seatbelt and do not text and drive!!! Happy holidays!!!

Thanks to the Killarney Legion and especially Deloris for looking after us for our Christmas Party on Sunday - Thank you!!!
