I want to address this issue and curb the many comments that have been noted on facebook, as to the actions of the RCMP on the matter of vehicles being broken into in Killarney. The RCMP have investigated the ones that have been reported and in some of these cases, there has been charges laid and conditions imposed. Should they re-offend, they will be taken in front of a JJP, who will determine whether they are released, however they can not be held forever and the courts will deal with them accordingly. If you have been victimized, contact the Killarney RCMP and do not assume who is responsible, as we will investigate and if there is enough evidence, they will be charged. There are things that each and everyone of you can do to minimize the risk by locking your vehicles, not leaving valuables where accessible and motion lights for your yard. You can also contact the RCMP, at the time that it is occurring, when there are suspicious people in your yard, around your vehicles and it gives us the opportunity to address at the time and not later and after the fact.

Please be reminded that the historic, Canadian symbol, the RCMP Musical Ride will be in Boissevain performing on July 20, 2016.

Cst. Sanderson was out for his first ride in a cruiser with an experienced partner. A call came in telling them to disperse some people who were loitering. The officers drove to the street and observed a small crowd standing on a corner. Cst. Sanderson rolled down his window and said, "Let's get off the corner people." A few glances, but no one moved, so he barked again, "Let's get off that corner... NOW!" Intimidated, the group of people began to leave, casting puzzled stares in his direction. Proud of his first official act, Cst. Sanderson turned to his Cst. Perkins and asked, "Well, how did I do?" Pretty good," chuckled the vet, "especially since this is a bus stop."

Goodbye to Sgt. Porter.

Well as some of you have heard and maybe some have hoped, my family and I will be leaving for my new post in Shoal Lake, with my last day of July 22nd, being the end of my Command at the Killarney Detachment. Sgt. Jarrid St. Pierre will take over on August 3rd and I know that you all will be in good hands. I want to first thank all the communities in the Killarney Detachment area and the elected officials for their support and facilitating a good working relationship and welcoming me and my family to the area. It is hoped that in some way, I was able to make a difference and you have received the type of policing that all Canadians have come to expect from the RCMP.

We have enjoyed our time living in the town of Killarney and will miss it here, as well as the friends we have made along way. We would like to thank the Kiddie Corner for always taking care of our Kalla and introducing her to her first boyfriend. UGH. As well as to the Killarney Preschool, for teaching her so much and seeing her through to graduating this year. My wife Shannon, would like to thank Tari at Metamorphosis, Sherry at Shoes 'n' Mor and the Bayside home for the opportunity to work as part of your staff, she truly enjoyed it. We will still visit here from time to time, as this is a beautiful town, in a beautiful part of Manitoba. Koel, don't worry either, I will still come back and feed you once and awhile, take care and we are only a phone call away.

Last but not least, I would like to thank the RCMP Staff of the Killarney, Boissevain, and Deloraine RCMP offices for their support the last 3 years, by showing the dedication, professionalism, and work ethic, that usually made my job an easy one. Stay safe to you all and it has been a pleasure to work with all of you.
