The following is the RCMP report to October 11, 2016. This reporting period, police responded to the following calls for service.

The Canada Revenue Scam is still alive and well. Many calls being reported that an officer with Canada Revenue Agency calls asking for money or residents will be arrested. Please do not release any personal information!!!

October 5, 2016

Police received a report of vandalism to some farm machinery in the Killarney-Turtle Mountain area.

Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle near the lagoon in Ninette. The owner was located and the vehicle was moved.

October 6, 2016

Police received a report of possible impaired drivers at the legion in Killarney. Police attended the legion and provided education and awareness to patrons and warned of impaired driving complaint. Individuals advised they would 'hoof it or call for a ride' when they finished their beer. Further patrols will be made concerning this report.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in the RM of Prairie Lakes.

October 7, 2016

Police provided advice under the Family Relations Act in Ninette.

Police received a report that last night, at 20:16 p.m., a silver Grand Prix with two male occupants was driving dangerously on King Street, near the school in Killarney. The vehicle appeared to be traveling approximately 90 km/h, went through two stop signs and then left Killarney on highway 3. Police to keep vehicle description in mind while conducting patrols.

Police received a report that a dump truck from the RM of Prairie Lakes has been speeding all day, past a residence. The complainant called the RM's office. More patrols in the area were requested.

Police received a report of a tractor on fire in the Killarney-Turtle Mountain municipality. No one trapped, no injuries and nothing suspicious. Fire Department extinguished the fire.

Police were called to report a matter under the Family Orders and Agreements Act. The complainant was advised that was not a police matter and Child and Family Services was contacted.

October 8, 2016

Killarney RCMP were dispatched to a disturbance at the Erin Inn in Killarney. A male was reported to be intoxicated and trying to fight. Police attended and everyone had left the bar. While police were inside the bar, the male returned and advised that he had an altercation with two unknown males, that appeared to be from out of town. The incident was mutually instigated by both parties, according to a witness. The male could not identify the other males. Police warned him and escorted him out of the bar.

Police received a report of mischief in Hartney. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of an old telephone pole (not in service) that was knocked down and someone had been doing"donuts" in the gravel parking lot in Killarney.

October 9, 2016

Police were dispatched to an unwanted person at a residence in the RM of Argyle, who was intoxicated and passed out in a chair. Police attended and located the male in the residence. He was arrested for mischief and lodged in cells due to intoxication. Police spoke with the complainant who did not want charges laid. The male was released the following morning.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Deloraine.

October 10, 2016

Police received a report of a grain truck on fire in middle of highway 5 and the 253 intersection. Police attended to find the truck not on roadway but several hundred meters into field with fire department. The fire was extinguished, no injuries and nothing suspicious.

October 11, 2016

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Baldur.

Police received a report of a computer fraud in Killarney. The matter is under investigation.

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know. If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Phone Busters Fraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do. Phone Busters can be reached directly at 1-888-495-8501, however also report same to the local detachment.

Child Abuse Registry checks are NOT done through the RCMP. Please call 1-800-282-8069 for any information on the Child Abuse Registry. Criminal Record Checks and Vulnerable Sector Searches: Our goal is to complete these checks in a timely manner, however please plan ahead as they can take up to 3 weeks to complete. People are reminded they themselves can only request and pick up their own checks and are asked to bring two pieces of identification, one photo.

Please also remember that Criminal Checks and Vulnerable Sector Searches for volunteers must provide a letter from the organization stating their volunteer status or there will be a $10.00 fee.

Criminal Record Checks for employment are $10.00 each.

Police would like to remind the public that if anyone requires fingerprinting services, they must make an appointment at the Killarney RCMP detachment. Drop-ins cannot be accommodated.

We would like to advise that the business hours of operation at the Killarney Detachment are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday

NEW HOURS FOR THE BOISSEVAIN OFFICE: The Boissevain RCMP business hours are Monday to Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. No office staff on Fridays.

The Deloraine RCMP business hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday are 8:30 to 3:00 p.m.

The general public is encouraged to attend during those hours to ensure someone will be here. It is also recommended to call ahead, however, in the event of an emergency, call 911 or the emergency line.

RCMP WOULD LIKE TO REMIND THE PUBLIC THAT AFTER HOURS AND ON WEEKENDS TO USE THE POLICE EMERGENCY LINE FOR YOUR LOCAL OFFICE or 911. The administration line may not be checked until the following day or possibly the Monday following a weekend. Members may be in another community or on the road.
