September 27, 2016

Police received a report of harassment in the Municipality of Grassland area. The matter is being investigated.

Police were dispatched to a combine on fire in a field in the Killarney-Turtle Mountain area. No injuries were sustained in the fire and the fire was not suspicious.

September 28, 2016

Police received a report of theft from a business in Minto. The matter is under investigation.

Police received a report of a lost or possibly stolen Iphone, 19 days earlier in Killarney. No suspects have been identified and nothing has been turned into the RCMP.

Police were dispatched through 911 to a hiker that was lost in the Turtle Mountain area. The hiker was not familiar with the Turtle Back trail and described the area with what she could see. Police attended on ATV's along with Conservation officers. They then received another call that the lost hiker could see cabins with flagpoles. Police packed up ATV'S and headed over to George Lake and with civilian assistance, who provided a pontoon boat for police to retrieve lost hiker. The hiker was offered food/water and to be checked out at the hospital to which all were refused. She was in good spirits. The RCMP would like to thank Conservation officers who assisted with their vast knowledge of the area and the good Samaritan who provided the boat. The outcome could have been much different without your assistance.

September 29, 2016

Police received a call to report that there was a bull on Highway 10, 10 miles south of Boissevain. Patrols were made from the junction of Highways 3 and 10 to the US Border and back. No cattle were located.

Police received a report of a male youth on property that he was currently banned from and also a possible breach of a probation order. Police attended and issued the male a ticket for trespassing and the male was later arrested and charged with failing to comply with probation.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in the Municipality of Grasslands.

Police received a report of a combine on fire in the RM of Argyle. No injuries and nothing suspicious.

Police received a report of a vehicle collision with a deer. No injuries but the airbags were deployed. The female passenger was transported to Killarney Hospital as a precaution and subsequently released.

October 1, 2016

Police received a complaint of speeding in Boissevain and concern for the safety of pedestrians. Patrols will be made in the area of concern.

Police received a report of a Chevy Tracker that had rolled about 1 mile north of Killarney. No injuries and a tow truck had already been called. The driver was not injured in the accident.

Police received a 911 transfer to assist the Boissevain Fire Department when a young boy was stuck in a baby swing at the Kinsmen Park located in Boissevain. Information was that the boy's legs were swelling and Ambulance was dispatched and on site. The Fire Department requested police attend due to the fact that they will be destroying public property. Police attended and the boy was cut from the swing and sustained no injuries.

October 2, 2016

Police received a report of a utility trailer stolen from a residence in Minto overnight. The matter is being investigated.

Police assisted with a matter under the Mental Health Act in Killarney.

Police were left a message on the administration line reporting shots fired that occurred on Friday night, shortly before midnight. Police called the complainant, who advised that he heard what sounded like 3 rifle shots, 20 seconds apart, near his property. Some time later (5 min.), he saw two vehicles in the distance (one truck towing an enclosed trailer, unknown what the second vehicle was), coming from the directions of the shots. The complainant could not provide any vehicle information as he was 0.5 km. away. The complainant stated that he did not report the incident at the time as he was not sure how to proceed with this matter and left the message 2 days later. The complainant followed up with his neighbours, but no one else heard the shots or saw any vehicles. Nothing was reported as stolen, damaged or broken into in the area. Police advised the complainant to call 911 immediately if that should ever happen again.

October 3, 2016

Police received a report of a green Chevy or GMC truck speeding up the hill past Ninette on Highway 23. Police were advised that speeding regularly takes place on Highway 23 where the speed is reduced to 70 km. A patrol car was in the area at the time and made patrols but the vehicle was not located and no license plate information were observed by the complainant.

Police continue to remind residents to never provide personal information such as birth dates, SIN numbers, credit card numbers, or e-mail address to parties you do not know. If you feel that you have been contacted by a fraudulent source, please contact police or Phone Busters Fraud Center immediately for further instructions on what you can do. Child Abuse Registry checks are NOT done through the RCMP. Please call 1-800-282-8069 for anyinformation on the Child Abuse Registry. Criminal Record Checks and Vulnerable Sector Searches: Our goal is to complete these checks in a timely manner, however please plan ahead as they can take up to 3 weeks to complete. People are reminded they themselves can only request and pick up their own checks and are asked to bring two pieces of identification, one photo.

Please also remember that Criminal Checks and Vulnerable Sector Searches for volunteers must provide a letter from the organization stating their volunteer status or there will be a $10.00 fee.

Criminal Record Checks for employment are $10.00 each.

Police would like to remind the public that if anyone requires fingerprinting services, they must make an appointment at the Killarney RCMP detachment. Drop-ins cannot be accommodated.

We would like to advise that the business hours of operation at the Killarney Detachment are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday

NEW HOURS FOR THE BOISSEVAIN OFFICE: The Boissevain RCMP business hours are Monday to Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. No office staff on Fridays.

The Deloraine RCMP business hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday are 8:30 to 3:00 p.m.

The general public is encouraged to attend during those hours to ensure someone will be here. It is also recommended to call ahead, however, in the event of an emergency, call 911 or the emergency line.
