The RM of Pipestone wants to bring a hardware store back to the community of Reston.

North American Lumber was the only store of this type in the area, and they closed their doors last fall.

Tanis Chalmers is the economic development officer for the RM of Pipestone.

She says they have been busy trying to fill the void.

“We have sent out packages to over 55 potential entrepreneur for reinstating the business into the community. Whether it's purchasing the pre-existing location or even using a commercial property that we have to reinstate a new location.”

Chalmers notes there is continuous construction going on in the area that would be more than enough to keep a hardware and lumber store busy.

The RM of Pipestone is offering cash incentives of up to $32,000 in hopes of attracting a hardware store to the community.
