A group dedicated to promoting and selling locally grown food products has closed its store front location in Boissevain.

Rural Roots started two years ago with lots of enthusiasm and support. However according to board President Kholi Stower that enthusiasm has tapered off over the past several months.

"This forced us to asses the situation and make some decisions on how to move forward."

Stower added sales had dropped off and that was a factor along with not getting enough workers to look after the Rural Roots store.

Stower says they've approached other retailers to see if they would be interested in making room on their shelves for the locally produced food items.

Rural Roots is also looking at setting up a monthly market where customers would place orders ahead of time. The group will hold a meeting December 8th to decide how to move forward in 2016.
