One person is dead following a snowmobile accident Sunday afternoon southeast of Rivers.

Carberry RCMP and Rivers Police Service responded to the fatal snowmobile collision.

On March 11, just after 5:00 pm, Police responded to a report of a snowmobile collision, in the RM of Riverdale, on the Little Saskatchewan River. The collision occurred approximately 15 kilometres southeast of Rivers near Provincial Road 270.

A 29-year-old male, from Oakview, was northbound in the trail system when it appears he drove over the edge of a ravine bank, dropping approximately 20 metres and landing on the frozen river below. He was pronounced deceased on scene.

The deceased was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and it is unknown if alcohol or speed played a factor.

Police are continuing with their investigation.
