On Tuesday around 12:30 am, Virden RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence located on Queen Street West in the community of Virden.
Upon arrival, officers located two males who were involved in an altercation with each other, a 22-year-old male from Virden and a 27-year-old male from the Canupawakpa Dakota First Nation. Both males were transported to hospital with serious injuries.
Bradley Kenneth Tomms, 22, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Uttering Threats. He was remanded into custody for a court appearance scheduled in Brandon Provincial Court.
RCMP were advised on January 16 that the 27-year-old succumbed to his injuries sustained in the assault. The next day, Bradley Kenneth Tomms was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder and once again remanded into custody.
The RCMP's Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate.
