Turtle Mountain RCMP have released statistics from the holiday check stop campaign and it appears drivers were obeying the rules.

RCMP Sgt. Dave Porter was pleased with response to this year's program. “We stopped 234 vehicles and only had to lay one impaired driving charge. We also issued two-24 hour suspensions, one seat belt ticket, four liquor charges and 35 speeding tickets.”

Police spent the past several weeks watching for motorist not obeying the rules.

“For the most part our numbers for the 2015 holiday campaign are similar to last year” said Porter.

He says it appears drivers are taking precautions by using designated drivers and doing what needs to be done to not get behind the wheel after drinking.
