The 7th ‘Walk a Mile in Her Shoes’ was held this past Thursday at its new location on Victoria Avenue, in the Brandon Police Services Parking lot.  Over 70 men and women donned on the high heels to take a stand against domestic violence and to raise money to support the children’s services provided to children coming from a home suffering from domestic violence through the YWCA.  Often these children

Karen Peto is the Executive Director for the YWCA.  She said it was the perfect day for the participants and enjoyed the new location which brought added attention to their cause.

Peto shared there are a number of programs the YWCA offers, including one called “Girl Space” where their counsellor visited some 8 schools to reach out to girls with quality programming addressing key social issues facing young women today.

FACT:  200 women and 225 children were housed at Westman Women’s shelter in 2015.
