Heavy snow cover remains over Southwestern Manitoba are with the spring melt approaching people are waiting to see how the moisture situation unfolds.

RM of Two Borders Reeve Debbie McMechan isn't hitting the panic button. “We've been through this before and to be honest the snow isn't usually the problem it is when we get heavy rains.”

McMechan did admit the cold weather and excess moisture presents its own set of challenges such as blocked drains and frost boils.

Officials hope for a slow thaw because of the amount of snow and its density this year.

“We are still working to get repairs completed from the flooding that happened back in 2014. We are working with provincial officials to get a few more infrastructure repairs for some bridges in our municipality.”
