Work is underway on a new hotel and senior's complex in Souris.

The $8.9 million project is a private venture that includes a hotel and apartments.

Souris-Glenwood Mayor Darryl Jackson expects the building will get off the ground quickly.

Jackson is excited about the apartments because it will give people another living option to staying in the community.

The hotel will have 29 rooms and there will be 18 apartments.

Occupancy is slated for the fall of 2017.
