TOBA TOBA TOBA -- That was the chant at the National Skills Canada competition the first weekend in June. A Manitoba delegation of 100 was loud and proud, as 28 high school, college, and young apprentices took to the podium claiming 13 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals at the Olympic-style Skills Canada National Competition held in Quebec City, Quebec on June 1 - 4, 2011.
The 63 member team earned the right to represent Manitoba at the Skills Canada National Competition by earning a gold medal in their respective trade or technology area at the Provincial Skills Competition.
I had the privilege of serving as judge at the Provincial competition, and it was rewarding to hear again from Maria Pacella, the provnicial coordinator, who accompanied the team to Quebec
