160 acres of sand dune habitat in south western Manitoba have been donated to the Manitoba Region of the Nature Conservancy of Canada. Regional Vice President Ursula Goeres says the land is located in the Kemnay sandhills.

Goeres adds the protected area is one of the few places in Manitoba that serves as the home for several rare and at risk animals and plants. The property is also characterized by a series of intact sand dunes with hills approaching 30 to 40 feet.
