Ben Rainka scored the shootout winner to lift Neepawa past MacGregor 3-2 in the lone Tiger Hills Hockey League game on Sunday. David Wollmann and Daylon Creasy on the power play with 1:34 left in regulation also scored for the Farmers who are 4-0 to start the season.  Braden Klippenstein and Andew Bayduza replied for the Wild. 


It's day one of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Showcase in Portage. The Virden Oil Capitals meet the Selkirk Steelers this afternoon and the Winkler Flyers on Wednesday.


Canada lost 3-2 in overtime to the United States as the Rivalry Series between the two national women's hockey teams resumed Sunday night in Kingston.  Marie-Philip Poulin and Sarah Fillier did the goal scoring for the Canadians. Hillary Knight scored her second of the game 54 seconds into overtime for the Americans. Canadian goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer made 21 saves. The Rivalry Series continues Tuesday in Ottawa. 


Jordon McDonald, Reece Hamm, Elias Huminicki and Alexandre Fontaine of Deer Lodge and Meghan Walter, Lane Prokopowich, Katie McKenzie and Mackenzie Elias of East St. Paul are  representing Manitoba at the National Qualifier bonspiel in Saskatoon which will determine the Canadian representative at the 2022 World Junior Championships March 5-12 in Sweden. The two-stage qualifying process was made necessary by the COVID-cancellation of the 2020-21 season’s provincial and national junior championships.
