The 3rd annual Banana Days in Melita was from all accounts a big success.
The community's premier celebration was held this past Friday,Saturday and Sunday. The event started after the town's new banana statue was erected.
The 3 day program included kids events, car rally, slow pitch tournament, street dance, golf tournament, car show and family dance.
Brenda Dell is part of the organizing committee and was pleased with how the weekend unfolded. "We've got so many events going there is some talk about extending Banana Days to a 4 day event."
One of the big draws on the weekend was the mud bog that is now part of a mud bog circuit. Close to 80 entries participated.
Bill warren is another committee member. He says "Banana Days is also a great way of brining people to town and helping get more shoppers into local stores."
