Seven years ago the community of Beausejour hosted the Provincial Scotties Tournament of Hearts and now it's the mens turn. The 2011 Safeway Championship begins Wednesday at the Sun-Gro Centre. The field of 32 teams includes former champions Vic Peters, Randy Dutiaume, Brent Scales and eight-time defending champion Jeff Stoughton.

 

 

 

 

CJRB Sports Director Clayton Dreger asked host committee co-chair John Plohman to talk about this years Provincial Men's Curling Championship.

 

 

 

Mike McEwen, the number one seed, will open against Don Holmes of Flin Flon while Jeff Stoughton will take on Zone 6 winner Perry Fisher of Wawanesa. Zone 8 winner Terry McNamee of Brandon will face Travis Graham of Thompson; Zone 7 winner Rob Ramage of Baldur will take on Bob Sigurdson; Zone 9 winner Graham Freeman of Virden will meet Randy Dutiaume; Zone 10 winner Brent Strachan of Hamiota will face David Bohn; William Lyburn will open against Rob Atkins of East St. Paul and Rob Fowler of Brandon will meet Roger Parker of Dauphin.
