This past week was an emotional one for friends and family of Ritchie "Tex" Campbell. Campbell who farmed in the Minto area was a perennial all-star with the Boissevain Border Kings.

He passed away last week at the age of 56.

The Border Kings decided to do something to honor Campbell's contributions to the team and sports in the region.

Ed Dyck works behind the scenes with the Border Kings. He arranged for a fund raising program that saw each goal scored over 4 games generating money for the Campbell Family.

The Border Kings played two games and the Broncos also had 2 games. All 4 games were in Boissevain.

Every goal the Border Kings scored meant 500 dollars went to the family. Every goal the Broncos scored sent 100 dollars to the Campbells.

The teams had a productive weekend. More than 7,000 dollars was raised for the family.

Campbell's son Landon is carrying on the tradition and is now playing with the Border King's. Landon also played with the Broncos when he was at Boissevain School.
