Thirty-six drivers were charged with impaired driving during the first week of the R-C-M-P Check Stop program in Manitoba.
That's down slightly from the same period one year ago. Nearly 65-hundred vehicles were checked between December 3rd and 12th.
Five drivers were charged with refusing to provide a breath sample and there were 23 twenty-four hour alcohol related roadside suspensions. An additional 46 people were charged with failing to wear seatbelts and there were 464 other traffic related provincial statute charges laid.
Furthermore, there was one fatal motor vehicle collision during this period where alcohol is considered to be a factor.
It happened December 3rd near Swan River.
