Brian Archibald stopped 36 shots as the Southwest Cougars edged the Winnipeg Wild 2-1 at the Souris Glenwood Memorial Complex. Jesse Bernard and Tanner Butler did the goal scoring for the Cougars who handed the East Division leading Wild just their first regulation loss this season. Southwest leads the Manitoba "AAA" Midget Hockey League's West Division with a record of 15-5-0-1. The Cougars, who saw their eight-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday with a 4-3 loss to the Wheat Kings in Brandon, will play three games this weekend. Southwest will meet the Norman Northstars in Souris on Friday, play the Interlake Lightning in Stonewall on Saturday and then face the Wild in Winnipeg on Sunday.
