From Tuesday, August 1, 2023 to Wednesday, November 15, 2023 crop residue burning is NOT AUTHORIZED, except by permit, in the municipalities of Rosser, Headingley, St. François Xavier, Cartier, Macdonald, Ritchot, Taché, Springfield, East St. Paul and West St. Paul.

For Friday, August 25, 2023, crop residue burning is AUTHORIZED from 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM in all other municipalities in the RED RIVER/SOUTHEAST ZONE

For Friday, August 25, 2023, crop residue burning is AUTHORIZED from 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM in all municipalities in the WESTLAKE/INTERLAKE ZONE and the SOUTHWEST and the NORTHWEST ZONES.

For Saturday, August 26, 2023 through Sunday, August 27, 2023, crop residue burning is NOT AUTHORIZED except by permits in all municipalities and zones in Manitoba due to poor ventilation conditions.

For information about applying for a burning permit, please call 204-745-5646 or 1-800-265-1233 toll free. Applicants who may be interested in stubble burning over the weekend should request a permit by 4:00 pm on Friday, August 25, 2023.

Note that burning in the “Burning Permit Areas” requires a permit issued by Manitoba Natural Resources and Northern Development. Permits issued by the City of Winnipeg are required for burning within the boundaries of the City. Please consult your local RM office for any other restrictions.

Nighttime burning of crop residues is banned year-round.

Safe burning practices, including adequate fire-guarding and proper supervision, must be followed.

Smoke from any crop residue fire must NOT obscure any public roadway or create problems for neighboring residents.

Before you burn, please consider there may be alternative uses for your straw. Please find the hay and straw listing service on the Government of Manitoba web site at http://web31.gov.mb.ca/HayListClntExtrnl/.
