Boundary Co-op’s annual Fuel Good Day on September 20th raised more than $6,500.

Fuel Good happens every fall and once again Boundary Co-op donated 10¢ per litre for every litre of fuel sold during that day. The Co-op also donated $1 from every cup of Cooperative Coffee or Big Cool Slush that was sold.

Marketing Manager Cheryl Rushing says the fund raising event couldn’t have gone any better. “We had a great day with lots of support from our communities. The weather was cool and miserable but that didn’t dampen the spirits we had and lots of support for our community BBQ’s. The schools had support and so did the food bank.”

This year’s recipient groups include Deloraine School, Killarney Food Bank and the new cross country ski program at Boissevain School.

“Every year we have groups apply for a chance of being selected to receive money from Fuel Good Day. Local non profits and other charities can apply and it goes before a selections committee and they’re selected in early summer and they come out on fund raising day to help out and make some money.”

Rushing says the food bank in Killarney will get $1,500, Boissevain School’s cross country ski program $3,000 and the rest goes to Deloraine School.

This event gives community groups, organizations or projects a chance to receive a funding boost through community support.
