The Virden Chapter of Habitat for Humanity is welcoming the warmer temperatures today as they're breaking ground on their newest build site on Nelson Street.

Construction Manager for the Brandon Chapter of Habitat for Humanity, Kevin Hiebert, has been called in to assist the Virden build project and is very excited to be working together with his Virden partners!

Hiebert says Karen McKinnon is the true leader in the Virden project as Chair of that committee and the true 'boots on the ground'!   He says he's just helping out!

"Primarily I run the Brandon build sites, and I'm just kind of helping out with the Virden one this year because they couldn't find local help," he explains. "It's pretty neat!  We've actually got some overlap because a number of the volunteers we had last year at our Brandon build are actually from Virden, and we're very excited to hear that that local build is taking off!"

"So, we're just now in the process of getting everybody connected so some of our Virden volunteers can be helping out directly there!"

The Virden Chapter is like many Habitat for Humanity committees, they work on a new build project about every other year.  This newest site is located at 615 Nelson Street West.
