The province has increased basket funding to municipalities in Manitoba and a mayor in the southwestern part of province has mixed feeling about the increase in support.

Bill Holden says his town will see an extra $60,000.

“It’s nice to have more basket funding to work with but also, we’re behind the eight ball because we found out a few years ago they cut our infrastructure money and froze our basket funding. That put us behind with our infrastructure projects, but this money will likely go back into roads.”

Bill Holden says they have a block they plan to pave, and they’ll also start a patching program. “As far as water projects I think we’ll wait until next year fore we do a larger project.”

Another project the town will be working on in 2023 will be the expansion of daycare spaces in the community.
