The Minnedosa Bombers are one win away advancing to the Tiger Hills Hockey League final. Tony Partridge, Ryan Heino and Shane Jury scored in a 3:29 span of the second period as Minnedosa defeated Gladstone 4-1 and now lead the best-of-five East Division final two games to none. Jury added his second of the night into an empty net with eight seconds left in the third period. Jacy Kennedy had the lone goal for the Lakers. Game three goes Wednesday in Gladstone.


The Brandon Wheat Kings scored six third period goals en route to a 10-2 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings at Westoba Place. Rylen Roersma and Dawson Pasternak had two goals each for the Wheat Kings while the rest went to Nolan Ritchie, Evan Groening, Nolan Flamand, Zakhar Polshakov, Caleb Hadland and Joby Baumuller with his first career Western Hockey League goal.


Mark Scheifele scored his second goal of the game with 29 seconds left in overtime to lift the Winnipeg Jets past the Florida Panthers 5-4. Vladislav Namestnikov also scored twice for the Jets who received a 44-save performance from Connor Hellebuyck. Winnipeg defenseman Josh Morrissey left the game early in the third period with a lower body injury and did not return.


The Manitoba Moose fell 5-2 to the Iowa Wild. Alex Limoges had both goals for the Moose.


The Souris Sabres lost 75-55 to the host Frontier Raiders in the final of the Provincial Junior Varsity A/AA Boys Basketball Championship in Cranberry Portage. Trey Penner of the Sabres and Owen Unrau of the Carberry Cougars were named Tournament All-Stars. Virden beat the Cougars 66-56 in the consolation final. Souris shaded the host Margaret Barbour Spartans 37-35 in the consolation final at the A/AA girls championship in The Pas.


Matt Dunstone will face Brendan Bottcher of Calgary Sunday morning in the semifinal at the Brier in London, Ontario. Dunstone, B.J. Neufeld, Colton Lott and Ryan Harnden saw their nine-game winning streak come to an end with a 5-4 loss to defending champion Brad Gushue in the 1-2 Page Playoff game. Gushue, who stole the winning point in the 10th end, earned a spot in the final. Bottcher downed Mike McEwen of Ontario 6-3 in the 3-4 Page Playoff game.
