Hartney Hoppers Days is back with a fantatic list of events and activities that will keep you hopping all weekend long!

The community weekend of events kicks off with Friday evening's annual baseball game plus a game of lacrosse at the fairgrounds!

Manager of Economic Development for Policy and Projects for the Municipality of Grassland, Debra Turner, says the Friday evening baseball game will prove to be entertaining for everyone!

"It's our Hartney Hoppers Alumni Baseball Reunion," shares Turner. "So, we have our 2013 Hoppers team, who won the league, who are going to be playing off against the rest of the alumni from Hartney Hoppers. So, it's going to be bringing lots of people back to the community who maybe haven't been to Hopper Days for a while."

In addition to baseball and lacrosse, Friday night's fairgrounds will be the hot spot of Hartney with a host of activities, including a meat draw, pulled-pork supper, baking auction (grasshopper pie?) and fireworks!

Saturday's lineup starts with the 8:30 breakfast, with yard sales opening up at 9 am.  The slow-pitch tournament will be held throughout the day and hold on to your hats - there will be a grasshopper contest for the largest hopper! "So, people are encouraged to go out and find grasshoppers leading up to Hopper Days and can freeze them and then bring them up to the Centennial Centre and they'll be measured, and the largest grasshopper will get a prize!"

Saturday winds down with a family dance and indoor family movie, as well as a fire-pit hangout - all at the Centennial Centre!

Sunday will be an amazing day with a special feature by the Filipino community to bring music and dance and cultural foods to Hopper Days from 2-5 pm.  "We approached the Filipino community, and they were already on top of it," shares Turner. "They wanted to do their foods, some traditional street foods (chicken feet?) for those who wanted to explore a little bit more!

The Sunday Community Church service is at 11 am, community parade at 1 pm and then the Filipino cultural festival presentation starts at 2pm.

The golf course will be hosting a Hopper Days classic tournament with a variety of categories throughout the weekend.  As well, keep your eyes open for the mobile Rainbow Auction that will be making its rounds via a traveling trailer.

"And, I have heard some rumblings that there may be a 50th class reunion and a 30th class reunion," she adds. "So, that's going to be bringing lots of people back to the community.  It's just nice to have a weekend where people kind of dedicate to coming home and see old friends and family and celebrate as a community!"

"So, come on down to Hartney Hopper Days this weekend," invites Turner.  "There is something for everyone!"
