The independent investigation unit is looking into the circumstances surrounding the arrest of a man in Brandon that resulted in him sustaining injuries.
 

On May 29th Brandon Police Service reported the incident to the IIU. Police say on May 27th at approximately 2:25 p.m. officers were called to an address on 13th street concerning a report of a disturbance.
 

Upon arrival police investigated and enforced an existing court order. Police report a man struggled with officers and attempted to flee. His apprehension resulted in the loss of a tooth. The man was charged, medically cleared and remains in custody.

The IIU civilian director determined it’s in the public interest to investigate the incident.
